Anne’s home – 9 m2

Paris 3e, 2024

The expression “urban hut” has never made so much sense. A blank 9 m2 page to imagine a pied-à-terre tucked away at the end of a pretty courtyard in the Marais district, where she spends her time in the capital on her way to the Sorbonne, where she meets up with her PhD students, or on a cultural escapade. On her first visit, she noticed that the flat was in poor condition, with only one window, complicated nooks and crannies and a modest height. Then, Anne’s desire for a warm place, a country atmosphere that incorporates a few antique pieces and efficient space management enabled us to pull out all the stops and find the inspiration we needed: opening onto the living room with its old terracotta floor tiles in the spirit of the building, a kitchen designed for preparing real meals and not just for eating, an alcove bed area with wallpaper inspired by a Renaissance painting, a typically Parisian bathroom with its metro tiles, The toilet has been divided in two, opening onto the living room on one side and onto the landing on the other, to provide space for the washing machine and a few shelves for the drugstore. Everything in this doll’s house has been fitted to the exact centimetre.
